Scary fashion/Did you know that...?/Look

Hi again!

Today I wanted to start this post talking about how scary can be fashion sometimes. In this case, I mean the use of animals in clothes or accessories. Such is the case that a few designers, without thinking twice, create bags in which you can see, literally, the dead animal. As an example, I saw these bags in the Museum of Bags & Purses in Amsterdam. And what about you? What do you think about this practice? Do you think this is an aberration and do you believe in the importance of sustainable fashion? Or do you think it's more important to wear a beautiful garment without thinking about its process of creating and processing?

Changing the subject, yesterday I read one of the books I think all Vogue fans must read, and I found a few curiosities that I wanted to share with all of you :)

Did you know that...

- In February 2010 the catwalks calendar in Milan Fashion Week was quickly modified to do everything possible for Anna Wintour to go (Vogue USA editor)?

- In the middle of the nineteenth century clothes were already counterfeited? Charles Frederick Worth (he is considered the first fashion designer) designed dresses for queen Victoria or for empress Eugenia that a few people counterfeited.

- In 1880, fashion magazines were sold with clothing patterns thought for the less wealthy? This was indispensable for the lower class, cause then they could dress well and wear the suitable clothing for the season.

- The second A in Harper's Bazaar was joined in 1929? The original name was Harper's Bazar.

If you are interested on this book, it is "IN VOGUE (An Illustrated History of the World's Most Famous Fashion Magazine)", by Norberto Angeletti and Alberto Oliva.

To finish this post, here you have one of the looks I wore in Amsterdam. As you can see, I was wrapped up warm. Amsterdam is so cold from September!
(Note: Spain is really hot, even now... haha)

And that's all, I hope you enjoyed this post! BE HAPPY AND SMILE!

  8. I personally think that it's unethical if the animal has been tortured in the process of killing them for the mere purpose of producing an accessory. This has been such a controversy in fur for example. I find it even more disturbing when they keep the heads as you have shown in this image. However I think we should also be conscious of the fact that we wear leather which is also made from an animal's skin. In the end I don't think any animal should be simply killed for the use of their features, but I think if an animal is part of the food chain where us humans eat them and their features are later used to create accessories then that is more acceptable.

    1. I agree, I can't stand looking at those purses with poor critters on them. It's very cruel. In my city - Vancouver, Canada, people would get very dirty looks for this kind of behavior.

I use leather, but from animals that we eat like cows / pigs / lamb, etc. It makes sense to use everything from the animal if it is slaughtered for food.

I am also a blogger, but I mainly focus on the fashion of legwear.
